Fund great art, get great rewards – a new way to help museums and galleries, and get something back.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of Art Happens, a crowdfunding platform that will help UK museums and galleries raise money for creative projects.
It’s a new approach to fundraising, involving museum lovers in the realisation of groundbreaking, diverse programmes – from exhibitions and redisplays to new facilities and spaces. Unlike some other crowdfunding platforms, every penny raised will go directly to the projects. Plus, everyone who gives to Art Happens will get a reward in return, from transfer tattoos and postcards to limited-edition artworks and VIP experiences.
The first five museums to take part are: Compton Verney, Warwickshire; the Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust, Shropshire; Jerwood Gallery, Hastings; St Fagans National History Museum, Cardiff and The Bowes Museum, Durham.
Each museum has proposed an innovative project with a feasible target, ranging from £10,000 to £25,000. Throughout the year, several new projects will be added to the platform.
Stephen Deuchar, Director of the Art Fund, said, ‘Building on the Art Fund’s historical success and recent experiments in digital crowd-funding, we are keen to use the tide of public engagement with museums to bring supporters ever closer to new, live museum projects. Through Art Happens anyone can be a patron as well as beneficiary of the arts. It’s the start of a new chapter for UK museums in terms of both public fundraising and public participation.’
