More than a decade of the artist’s work, including her infamous large-scale sculptural installations which she describes as 'a natural retreat from material reality'.

Wilkes describes the featureless human beings populating her work as 'both the living and the dead’. Her installations – devoid of any particular time or space – exist in imaginary environments, yet feature items accumulated from daily life, such as baking parchments, cloths, towels, cups and plates and biscuits. The result is an unsettling mix of the intimately familiar and the otherworldly.

Tate Liverpool’s exhibition is the artist’s largest display to date and includes her major piece Untitled (Possil, at last) included in the Venice Biennale’s The Encyclopedic Palace in 2013.
