From Lucian Freud to Poussin, explore a personally curated selection of works collected and commissioned by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, plus gems in the Devonshire Collections.
Hand selected by the Duke and Duchess themselves, rarely seen paintings, sculpture, furniture, ceramics and textiles from the Devonshire Collections will be on display alongside artists who the pair personally collected or commissioned. These include conceptual artist and painter Michael Craig Martin, potter Edmund de Waal, ceramicist Natasha Daintry and sculptor Felicity Aylieff. Other highlights on display include memorable works by Poussin, Rembrandt and Boltraffio among others.
A special section of the exhibition is dedicated to prolific figurative painter, Lucian Freud in celebration of his centenary year. A selection of Freud’s paintings, drawings and prints will be displayed with two paintings returning to Chatsworth, representing art from across his life.
