This underground museum is built around the remains of a Roman town house with mosaics preserved where they were first excavated.

Explore the Roman town beneath your feet. The museum has been built around the remains, allowing visitors to explore what life was like in Roman Britain.

Permanent collection

The museum is home to remains of one of the UK’s only remaining in situ Roman pavement mosaics, a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Descend 100 years with each step or by lift to the Roman street level. Stroll through the marketplace, look inside recreated Roman rooms, and discover amazing finds including a hoard of hidden treasure. The collections within the museum include pottery, glassware, jewellery and silverware.
